How you make a difference
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) provides psychiatric consultation, diagnostic, and treatment services to patients, including medication management and crisis intervention services, while adhering to established policy and procedure and state guidelines. They maintain documentation required by state or facility guidelines to demonstrate compliance with supervision requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive patient assessments, develops plans of care, and evaluates effectiveness of interventions, including medication management and crisis intervention services.
- Maintains thorough documentation in compliance with organization policies and procedures, state guidelines, and best practices, including medication education, seclusion/restraint use, infection control, and risk management.
- Provides individualized care sensitive to the age and developmental needs of each patient, and participates in on-call schedules and mandatory committees as required.
- Adheres to established formularies for therapeutic regimens and utilizes established procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, while supporting standards of psychiatric care and providing input into committees and meetings as requested.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) to join our behavioral health team within a correctional facility. This role is critical in providing high-quality mental health care to an underserved population in a secure environment. Must-Have Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, with demonstrated expertise in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Prior experience working in a correctional setting as a Psych NP, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and protocols associated with providing care in secure environments.Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
Experience
- Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution.
Licenses/Certifications
- Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice highly desired.
- Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
