Frequently asked questions

Billings, MT has a growing demand for physical therapist assistants due to an aging population and expanding healthcare facilities. While competition exists, Reliant Rehabilitation’s extensive presence in 38+ states offers ample opportunities, making it favorable for qualified candidates seeking roles in skilled nursing facilities locally.

Beyond holding a valid physical therapy assistant license, Montana employers often value additional certifications in CPR, infection control, and continuing education credits. These credentials improve compliance with state regulations and enhance a candidate’s ability to deliver effective care within skilled nursing environments.

Physical therapist assistants primarily implement treatment plans under the supervision of licensed physical therapists, focusing on direct patient care and therapy execution. Unlike physical therapists, they typically don’t develop initial evaluations but play a critical role in optimizing patient function and monitoring progress.

Key skills include strong clinical documentation, patient communication, and proficiency in therapy techniques. Emphasizing ongoing education and leadership abilities, such as supervising rehab techs and understanding billing models, can open pathways to clinical ladder advancement within organizations like Reliant Rehabilitation.

Physical therapist assistants in Billings typically earn between $45,000 and $60,000 annually, influenced by experience and certifications. Reliant Rehabilitation offers competitive pay packages aligned with market rates, often supplemented by benefits like PTO programs and 401(k) matching to enhance overall compensation.

Reliant Rehabilitation invests in its team through company-sponsored continuing education, clinical leadership mentoring, and a structured clinical ladder. This approach fosters career progression and skill enhancement, distinguishing it as a therapy company led by experienced therapists passionate about employee development.

Reliant’s therapist-run culture emphasizes compliance, quality care, and internal promotion. Their extensive network of 850+ buildings and flexible schedules across 38 states presents unique opportunities unmatched by many competitors, alongside benefits tailored to support both professional and personal growth.

Challenges include managing diverse patient needs, adhering to stringent infection control protocols, and navigating complex reimbursement models. Assistants must balance hands-on care with thorough documentation, requiring adaptability and strong communication skills within the local healthcare environment.

In Billings, PTAs often handle a mix of long-term and post-acute patients, reflecting local demographics. This contrasts with urban centers where caseloads may focus more on outpatient or sports therapy. The role demands flexibility to meet both facility standards and patient-specific rehabilitation goals.

Graduates from APTA-accredited physical therapy assistant programs with strong clinical components tend to be favored. Participation in programs offering hands-on experience and up-to-date certifications aligns well with Reliant’s commitment to quality and compliance, enhancing candidate attractiveness.
