While customer interaction at the service counter is key, a balanced mix of responsibilities exists including stocking, rotating products, and maintaining display cases. Back-room tasks like refrigeration monitoring and sanitation also play a significant role daily.

Strong communication, customer engagement, and teamwork skills are critical. Additionally, knowledge of meat products, attention to detail in pricing and wrapping, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards ensure success in this role.

Yes, dealing with cold and sometimes wet working conditions requires resilience. Managing safety risks like sharp tools and heavy equipment, while maintaining excellent customer service under a busy store schedule, can be demanding but rewarding.

Mansfield’s retail sector shows steady demand for customer service roles, with moderate competition. Candidates with experience in food handling or strong customer interaction abilities tend to stand out in this local job market.

New hires at Roche Bros. complete an onboarding program including e-learning modules and checklists within their first 30 days. This ensures employees are well-prepared for customer service excellence and safety compliance.

Hourly wages range between $15.40 and $20.10, reflecting Massachusetts' pay transparency standards. Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and internal factors, positioning this role as a competitive entry-level retail opportunity.

While no specific certifications are mandatory, familiarity with safe food handling and sanitation standards is highly valued. Candidates with local food safety training may have an advantage in Roche Bros.’ competitive hiring landscape.
