Overview
We are seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), internally referred to as our Speech Therapist or Speech-Language Therapist. As our Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), you are responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating individuals with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Hours: 8-hour shift: 8a - 4:30p (hours can be flexible)
Location: St. Mary's Medical Center – Blue Springs, MO

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
- Conduct communication assessments and provide evidence-based therapy for speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in acute and medically complex settings
- Provide cognitive-communication therapy targeting attention, memory, executive function, and problem-solving in patients with neurological conditions
- Educate patients and caregivers on safe swallowing, communication strategies, and appropriate use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems to support functional outcomes
- Treat patients across ICU, Inpatient Rehab, NICU, and Pediatrics, addressing feeding, swallowing, congenital, critical care and other communication needs
- Enhance quality of life and safety by supporting safe oral intake, restoring communication, and promoting cognitive-linguistic recovery
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
- Licensed by the state in Speech-Language Pathology
- Graduate of an accredited college or university with Bachelor's in Speech Therapy
- Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain current
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
- MS Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- At least one year of experience in a hospital setting
