Overview
We are seeking a Central Sterile Technician, sometimes referred to as a Central Supply Tech, Sterile Processing Department Processor (SPD Processor) or Sterilization Technician in our Surgery Department. The Sterilization Technician in the surgical setting will be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment to ensure they are safe for use in procedures. They follow strict infection control protocols, operate sterilization equipment like autoclaves, assemble instrument trays, and help maintain a sterile environment to support patient safety and surgical success.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
- Perform thorough decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical trays, instruments, and other surgical equipment following infection control and safety standards
- Monitor inventory levels and restock sterile supplies and surgical equipment to ensure continuous support for surgical procedures and patient care areas
- Enter accurate data into tracking systems and process patient charge cards to ensure proper documentation and billing
- Transport sterile and used instruments throughout all hospital departments with full knowledge of facility layout and departmental protocols
- Communicate effectively with surgical staff and clinical teams to anticipate needs and resolve equipment or supply issues promptly
- Identify and prepare correct instruments, trays, and patient care supplies for specific procedures, ensuring readiness and compliance with surgeon preferences
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current BLS (AHA) Certificate
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
- Central Supply Certification
- Two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting
