Overview
We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist II (CST II), sometimes referred to as a Surgical Tech II, OR Tech II or Scrub Tech II. The Certified Surgical Technologist II (CST II) prepares the operating room for complex procedures, assists surgeons by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field, and supervises junior staff. The Certified Surg Tech II will also manage surgical instruments, collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety, and ensure compliance with infection control standards.

Hours: 8-hour shift – 7:00am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
- Lead by Example - Supervise and mentor junior surgical technologists and assist with their training and development, demonstrate proper techniques, reinforce sterile procedures and share best practices
- Manag Surgical Instruments - Count and track sponges, needles, and tools to prevent retained items, accurate counts of all items used in the surgical procedure
- Preoperative Preparation - Set up the operating room by sterilizing and arranging instruments supplies and equipment while preparing patients for surgery through proper positioning and sterile draping
- Intraoperative Support - Assist during surgery by passing instruments maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the surgical team’s needs while tracking instruments and sponges
- Postoperative Duties - Support postoperative care by applying dressings transporting patients to recovery and cleaning and restocking the operating room
- Safety and Compliance - Follow strict infection control protocols ensure safe handling of specimens and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory standards
- Collaboration and Communication - Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and sterile processing staff while communicating effectively in high-pressure situations
Qualifications
Education and Training
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
- Current CST certification upon hire and maintain current
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted) upon hire and maintain current
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
- Graduate from a surgical technology program accredited through ARC/STSA
