Job Summary
Assess patient/family health problems and resources, taking a leadership role in the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care. Provides professional nursing care and interventions to acutely ill adult patient populations. Position requires providing service to one or more age groups including young adults through geriatric patients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. Position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee will support the
organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the hospital wide performance improvement plan.
Job Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment:
- Review the patient’s medical history and surgical clearance. Perform physical assessments (e.g., vital signs, weight, allergies). Evaluate patient readiness for surgery, including fasting status and medication compliance.\
Patient Education:
- Explain the surgical procedure, anesthesia, and post-op recovery process. Address patient and family concerns to reduce anxiety.
Coordination of Care:
- Communicate with surgical team members, anesthesiologists, and physicians.
- Ensure that preoperative labs, imaging, and consents are complete and accurate.
Emotional Support:
- Offer reassurance and support to patients and their families.
- Help alleviate anxiety through clear communication and compassionate care.
Job Requirements
Minmum:
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Bachelor's degree preferred
One (1) year of recent acute care experience
Licenses:
RN:AZ or Compact RN license
Certification:
American Heart Association BLS
American Heart Association ACLS
