Overview
To prepare, bake and display product in the department in a careful, clean, neat, and expedient manner while ensuring that all product is fresh, rotated, and well-stocked for our customers while maintaining great customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of baking techniques.
- Must be able to work as a team member and interact positively with customers.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work a schedule based on the business needs of the store location.
- Authorized to work within the U.S.
Responsibilities
The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the company.
- Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance.
- Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with other associates to build a strong bakery team.
- Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that is Respectful, Supportive and Totally Team Oriented (RSTO).
- Assist in receiving and unloading of merchandise. Check and verify receiving to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered. Check products for quality, count, and condition.
- Keep all bakery ingredients or merchandise rotated in accordance with company policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest products first (first in, first out).
- Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory control.
- Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
- Take stock to storage or shelf areas.
- Prepare all baking mixtures in accordance with established company or department procedures and recipes.
- Pan up frozen products and pan and roll up bread.
- Load and unload over. Know the proper temperatures and duration to bake all varieties of products.
- Operate mixer and write on cakes/prepare product to meet customers specifications.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations including full compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to safety, health and packaging requirements.
- Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
- Maintain a neat, well groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress code, along with wearing approved hat or hair net.
- Keep display cases, cooler and freezer organized and clean, along with cleaning walls, fans, drains, equipment, utensils, and work tables. Wipe counter tops and front display cases.
- Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.
Secondary Job Functions:
- Restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest cost supply.
- Promote items on public address system.
- Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
