Frequently asked questions

In Texas, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) titles are effectively synonymous, both requiring state-approved licensure. While terminology differs by region, their scope and responsibilities in patient care, such as medication administration and assisting RNs, align closely under Texas regulations.

LVNs/LPNs in Uvalde working with developmental disabilities benefit from expertise in behavioral monitoring, adaptive equipment usage, and thorough communication with healthcare teams. Familiarity with psychotropic medications and precise documentation enhances care quality for this vulnerable population.

At ResCare Community Living, LPNs/LVNs juggle vital sign monitoring, medication administration following six rights, and coordinating with RNs and physicians. They also assist clients in medical appointments, conduct health assessments, and maintain detailed records, ensuring holistic support for individuals with disabilities.

ResCare Community Living presents LVNs/LPNs with a chance to impact lives by supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in diverse settings. The role includes interdisciplinary teamwork, continuous education, and involvement in quality improvement initiatives, enhancing both professional growth and community health.

Besides holding a valid LVN or LPN license, ResCare Community Living expects CPR certification and prefers candidates with experience in disability services. Proficiency in electronic documentation and a clean driving record support the multifaceted responsibilities of the nursing role.

Uvalde's healthcare sector reflects a steady need for licensed practical/vocational nurses, especially in community living environments. While competition exists, candidates with developmental disability experience and local licensure enjoy favorable prospects amid ongoing regional demand.

The hourly wage of $26 for LVN/LPN roles in Uvalde aligns closely with Texas averages, reflecting regional cost of living and healthcare funding. This competitive pay supports attracting skilled nurses to community-based care, balancing workload with fair compensation.

Starting as an LVN/LPN at ResCare Community Living can lead to advanced nursing roles, including RN licensure through bridge programs. Engagement in interdisciplinary teams and quality initiatives here provides a strong foundation for growth into leadership or specialized nursing fields.
