Job Summary
Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is seeking to employ a Per Diem AGACNP/PA-C with specialization in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to join their growing employed physician group on the West Coast of Florida.
Join a dedicated team of seven (7) Physiatrists and two (2) Advanced Practice Providers in the highly desirable area of Sarasota, Florida. We are located only minutes from the beautiful beaches of Siesta Key, Lido Key and Longboat Key on the West Coast of Florida.
The Rehab Pavilion is a 60-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) that opened in April 2017 on the campus of Sarasota Memorial Hospital. It is a 74,000 square-foot, five-story Pavilion that accommodates the complex medical, rehabilitation and mobility needs of patients with brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, neurological disorders, and orthopedic & musculoskeletal conditions.
The inpatient rehab unit averages 1,700 admissions per year and has consistently remained at or near capacity. Our program continues to earn the highest level of accreditation from CARF with the additional certification as a Stroke Specialty provider and is ranked #29 in the nation in adult specialty rehabilitation by US News & World Report’s 2024-2025 “Best Hospitals” list.
Responsibilities include:
- PRN position: seeking coverage for four 8-hour weekend shifts a month. Shifts will be on Saturday or Sunday, 8AM to 4PM .
- Management of immediate post-acute medical conditions in the inpatient rehabilitation unit.
- Weekend rounding on recently admitted patients, including follow-up on recent diagnostic testing and evaluation of medical issues that may impact therapy participation.
- Identification and management of new acute medical conditions that can impact recovery and require acute interventions.
- Daily responsibilities may include review and interpretation of test results, medication adjustments, fluid and electrolyte management and assessment of medical stability for continued participation in the intensive therapy program.
- Will work under the direct supervision of a Physiatrist.
Requirements:
- Current NCCPA or ANCC certification required and must also have an active license by the State of Florida by the time of hire.
- Board Certified Physician Assistant, Board Certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner who has active, relevant, and routine experience in 2 of the last 4 years (defined as at least 500 acute care inpatient encounters over two years).
- Board Certified Adult/Family Nurse Practitioner, who has active, relevant, and routine experience in 2 of the last 4 years (defined as at least 1,000 acute care inpatient encounters over two years).
- BLS required.

The APRN II typically work in a set acute care setting managing patient care which can include critical care, Ortho, OB/GYN, Oncology, and Pediatrics. An APRN is a registered nurse and therefore can perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a registered nurse. In addition, an APRN holds a master’s or doctoral degree. The APRN functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced nursing care to patients within the APRN’s scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Require advanced degree from an accredited school or college of nursing* *Must have had a Medicare number in the State of Florida prior to 1/1/03; if not, must have a Master's Degree in nursing in addition to being a Registered Professional Nurse who is authorized by Florida to practice in accordance with state law.- Require approved APRN board certification**. **Must be certified as a APRN by a recognized national certifying body having established standards for APRN’s. The following organizations are recognized national certifying bodies for the Nurse Practitioner: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Nurses Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners & Nurses; Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation; Critical Care Certification Corporation; National Commission on Certification; and American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.
