Overview
Coordinates and performs all aspects of skilled infusion nursing care for patients in the home setting or ambulatory infusion suite. Participates in teaching patients and identified care givers home management of the infusion patient. Provides leadership by working cooperatively to establish priorities and goals of patient care.
Provides services to clients in accordance with the state nursing laws, rules, regulating company policy, and accepted professional standards of practice.
Responsibilities
- Provides care including patient assessment and reassessment, patient and caregiver teaching, development and revision of the Plan of Care and Plan of Treatment, implementation of physician orders, patient response monitoring, response to emergency patient needs and psychological support.
- Proficient in infusion therapy nursing skillset.
- Provides pre-discharge patient assessments when appropriate.
- Completes all required patient care documentation and reports accurately.
- Submits all required patient care documentation and reports in a timely manner.
- Communicates any changes in the patient’s condition to supervisor, physicians, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Takes professional responsibility for self-protection during required work in potentially hazardous situations (e.g., PPE, handling cytoxic agents, blood, and body fluids).
- Represents self in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
- Complies with all applicable company policies and procedures.
- Participates in the activities of the Performance Improvement Program.
- Attends scheduled patient care conferences, in-services, departmental meetings, etc. as requested.
- Maintains professional licensure, certification, and health requirements as well as demonstrates clinical competence.
- Participates in the orientation of other nurses or center personnel as requested.
- Participates in the education of outside nursing agency partners.
- Supports the marketing efforts of the company by assisting the sales team and providing educational programs to referral sources as requested.
- Takes on-call responsibility as assigned to provide 24-hour availability and provides these services in accordance with established protocols.
- Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN, preferred
Credential/Licensure Required:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) of
- Current CPR certification
- Valid driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance coverage per AristaCare’s policy.
Experience Preferred:
- Minimum of two years related experience in the home infusion industry preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach outward, and handle/finger.
- Occasionally required to reach above shoulder, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend.
- Occasionally required to push/pull 10lbs or less and occasionally push/pull up to 35lbs.
- Occasionally required to lift/care up to 10 to 35lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a home environment; however, hospital care initiation may occur if required and/or patient care in the ambulatory infusion suite.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
