Besides holding an active Florida RN license, certifications such as CHPN (Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse) can significantly enhance a candidate's profile. Familiarity with Medicare hospice eligibility and Florida’s regulatory requirements also strengthens suitability for hospice admissions nursing positions in the region.

This role balances clinical assessment with empathetic communication, differing from acute care nursing by emphasizing comfort and holistic support over curative treatment.
Daily tasks often include home or facility visits to assess patients referred for hospice, gathering medical histories, explaining hospice care options, securing consents, and initiating service setups. Coordination with interdisciplinary teams and precise documentation also form key parts of the RN’s workflow.

Nurses act as liaisons, providing compassionate education and ensuring families understand the care plan, which is critical in building trust and improving patient-centered outcomes.
