Overview
The Field Based Service Technician provides high quality, efficient and timely repair, preventative maintenance and installation of Cook capital equipment at customers' facilities to ensure that the equipment is performing in accordance with system requirements.
Responsibilities
• Read, understand, and carry out written and oral instructions• Read from simple to complex drawings to build and repair equipment• Perform scheduled maintenance on field based installed equipment• Provide legible and accurate documentation• Work with hand/manually-powered tools and some power tools• Assemble and disassemble objects to set-up and operate equipment• Respond with limited notice to requests from within the territory, such as emergency service requests, preventative maintenance requests and/or installation requests• Must have excellent customer relations skills including the ability to explain and train• Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization
• Perform work in compliance with Cook Quality System • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision • Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations• Ability to stay focused and on task• Complete quality work within acceptable time frames
Qualifications
• Two year technical degree in electronics or Biotechnology; will consider a Bachelor's degree in lieu of technical degree• Strong math skills and technical aptitude• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (e.g. Word, Excel)• Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Cook does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to travel approximately 80%• Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds• Utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, machinery, etc.• Work with chemicals such as adhesives, acetone and isopropyl alcohol• Able to do continuous repetitive motions using hands
• Good eyesight, hand dexterity and attention to detail• Frequently required to stand for extended periods, walk, use hands to grasp, carry, feel or touch; reach with hands and arms
