Overview
The Food & Beverage Attendant is responsible for the complete set up of the Grab and Go and Bar area. The Attendant is to provide coffee and/or bar service by preparing and serving coffee, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and food items for all guests. The Attendant is responsible for taking guest orders and accepting payment for food and beverages and making proper change for guests and fellow employees. The Attendant is also responsible for the Grab and Go and related seating areas which includes light cleaning, restocking and general upkeep of the area.
Responsibilities
- Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
- Comply at all times with hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Receive and deliver food and beverage orders and collect payment.
- Process guests’ checks, collect cash, and process credit cards and room charges according to standards.
- Perform opening and closing duties according to established side-work checklist by property standards.
- Ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently.
- Prepare cashier report at end of each shift.
- Pay out service attendants’ tips, if applicable.
- Prepare beverages and cocktails according to the standards for mixing, portion control, and presentation.
- Serve guests with all food and beverage requirements in a warm, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Be attentive of guests’ needs and assist in providing a pleasant experience.
- Have a thorough knowledge of menu offerings and current specials and promotions in all applicable outlets.
- Assist with delivering and refilling beverages, pre-bussing tables and promptly resolving any guest requests.
- Ensure that display tables and side stands are kept stocked, tidy, and clean.
- Be familiar with fire extinguishers, locations and know how to use them.
- Keep all work areas clean, properly stocked, and presentable according to the current service period.
- Keep all tables and lounge area cleaned and properly set according to specific standards.
- Follow prescribed procedures in serving liquor with care to avoid problems with intoxicated guests, and report to management when necessary.
- Complete beverage requisitions to maintain par levels as needed. (bottle for bottle method)
- Stock and clean glassware and serve ware.
- Check soda tanks to ensure that they are full and secured properly to the bar.
- Prepare all garnishes.
- Follow all state liquor laws.
- Assist in maintaining beverage cost.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
- Able to stand the entire shift.
Qualifications
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Must be legally able to prepare alcoholic beverages; bartending experience preferred
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Must be able to attain Responsible Beverage Serving and Food Handlers certifications.
