Frequently asked questions

Proficiency in Adobe Suite is essential for creating and editing production artwork, while familiarity with Flex PLM helps in managing product lifecycle data. Understanding of Pantone color matching and fabric printing techniques also enhances an assistant graphic artist's capability to meet design and production standards effectively.

New York’s vibrant fashion and lifestyle industry offers abundant networking and creative opportunities for graphic artists specializing in production art. The city's fast-paced environment demands adaptability and precision, fostering quick skill development and exposure to diverse apparel and accessory projects, which can accelerate career growth.

Unlike general graphic design positions, this role zeroes in on technical production aspects such as color separations, fabric print repeats, and preparation of tech packs. It requires detailed knowledge of garment manufacturing constraints and collaboration with designers to ensure artwork aligns precisely with production capabilities.

At Centric Brands, the Assistant Graphic Artist benefits from a culture emphasizing innovation and teamwork, working closely with design and product development managers. The brand's diverse product segments and emphasis on sustainability initiatives can enrich the artist’s project variety and foster engagement beyond traditional design tasks.

Balancing creative vision with manufacturing limitations can be complex, especially when aligning embellishments and prints to technical specs. The fast-paced environment requires meticulous organization and communication skills to ensure that designs meet both artistic expectations and vendor requirements efficiently.

The expected base salary falls between $55,000 and $60,000 annually, reflecting the competitive New York market and the role’s entry-to-mid level experience requirements. This figure aligns with industry standards and is complemented by benefits like 401(k) matching and paid time off.

New York boasts a robust market for graphic artists, particularly in fashion and lifestyle sectors, but competition is stiff due to the city’s appeal to creative talent nationwide. Candidates with production art skills and PLM software experience typically have an edge amid the crowded field.

Typical tasks include attending design review meetings to capture detailed notes, preparing tech packs, managing color separations, and ensuring artwork aligns with fabric printing specifications. The role demands close collaboration with senior artists and designers to maintain high-quality production standards.

Centric Brands fosters career development through mentorship and internal mobility, offering assistants pathways to senior artist or product development roles. Their emphasis on innovation and team collaboration creates an environment conducive to skill enhancement and professional growth.

Beyond competitive pay, Centric Brands encourages involvement in social impact initiatives like Centric Cares and diversity workshops via their D&I committee. Employees also enjoy perks such as summer Fridays, merchandise discounts, and comprehensive healthcare, enhancing both work-life balance and community engagement.
