Frequently asked questions

In Englewood, certifications like the Professional Engineer (PE) license and specialized training in power systems or industrial electrical safety are highly valued. These credentials demonstrate expertise critical for oil & gas facility design and can significantly boost career growth in this competitive Colorado market.

Englewood's oil and gas sector offers steady demand for senior electrical engineers, but competition remains strong due to the area's reputation for energy projects. Candidates with power plant design experience and knowledge of medium to low voltage systems stand out in this technically rigorous environment.

Mastery in integrated electrical system design for industrial plants, proficiency in three-phase power transient studies, and vendor coordination skills distinguish this role. Deep understanding of protective relay settings and equipment selection tailored to oil and gas contexts is essential.

After seven years, engineers often transition into leadership or project lead roles, focusing on complex design modifications or new facility developments. This path involves mentoring junior staff and interfacing with clients to align system designs with operational demands.

While not mandatory, a PE license greatly improves credibility and opens doors to higher responsibility projects. Many employers prefer licensed engineers for senior roles due to the license’s affirmation of technical competence and ethical standards.

Sargent & Lundy fosters development through mentorship opportunities, offering exposure to complex power plant projects and encouraging participation in technical reviews. Their award-winning benefits and flexible hybrid work culture create a supportive environment for career advancement.

The salary range from $82,380 to $125,860 aligns well with regional standards for senior electrical engineers in oil and gas, reflecting Englewood’s cost of living and the specialized skills required. Additional bonuses and comprehensive benefits enhance the total compensation package.

Employees benefit from a hybrid schedule with three in-office days weekly, complemented by generous paid time off and flexible work arrangements. This structure supports both demanding project timelines and personal well-being, a standout feature in the oil and gas engineering sector.

Yes, engineers must navigate stringent safety codes and adapt designs to Colorado’s environmental and regulatory landscape. Managing system reliability amid harsh weather conditions and coordinating with local vendors adds layers of complexity to project execution.

They lead detailed design reviews, prepare precise documentation, and coordinate system designs to meet strict electrical codes. Their role includes mentoring teams to maintain high-quality standards and verifying equipment selection aligns with client needs in oil and gas applications.
