Function/Duties of Position
This is a faculty position within the Division of Pediatric Psychology and largely supports the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology. The position will also involve work with infants and children with gastroenterological disorders. Services will be provided at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and outreach locations throughout the State. The position is under the administration of the Director of the Institute on Development and Disability (IDD) and Department of Pediatrics. The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals, and objectives of the OHSU and the IDD, inclusive of teaching, research, and service.

This position is designated as a Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology Clinical Psychologist who will work collaboratively with clinical providers across the Department of Pediatrics, OHSU, and throughout the State.
This position will provide opportunities for delivering clinical care to patients across the state through telehealth and outreach clinics.
Direct Clinical Service (80%): The primary clinical focus for the person in this position will be to provide psychological assessment and treatment to youth receiving care in the Doernbecher Pediatrics Gastroenterology Clinic. In addition, the incumbent will also participate in the clinical education of students, interns, residents, and fellows rotating through these clinics.
This faculty provider will evaluate and provide outpatient and inpatient intervention services to patients with gastroenterological disorders, including but not limited to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Functional Abdominal Pain, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Obesity, and Constipation/Encopresis. Patients are referred by their GI provider or seen in the hospital while inpatient. Services will be provided at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and at outreach locations throughout the state. Evaluations will include clinical interviews and communication of recommendations to members of the multidisciplinary team. Interventions will include cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, behavior management, supportive interventions, and pain management/relaxation training. Training will emphasize collaboration and consultation within the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology focusing on problems that present in outpatient medical care (e.g., non-adherence to the treatment regimen, adjustment to the challenges of having IBD, problems with transitioning from pediatric to adult care, and management of the psychosocial problems that co-occur with IBD and other gastroenterological conditions).
Administration (20%): The person in this position will serve as a clinical psychologist. As such, the candidate will be allotted 20% time for administrative activities including documentation, case management, and other non-billable services.
Required Qualifications
- The incumbent will hold a doctorate in Psychology with specialization in child psychology and preferably pediatric psychology.
- In addition, the candidate will have demonstrated excellence in clinical care.
- Must hold current certification credentials appropriate to the discipline of psychology as well as Oregon licensure (or be license-eligible).
