Job Summary and Responsibilities
In keeping with the Dignity Health healthcare philosophy, the Ultrasound Technologist performs cardiovascular procedures at a technically proficient level. Positions and instructs the patient, operates ultrasound equipment and determines the technical factors for ultrasound procedures. Ensures correct marking/labeling of images, provide and confirm proper/adequate documentation of procedures to assist in diagnosis. Technically proficient in a variety of ultrasound procedures. Ability to train staff members to perform procedures requiring independent judgement. Position requires ingenuity and initiative for the diagnosis and therapy of disease.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Three (3) years recent acute care experience preferred performing Cardiovascular Ultrasound procedures in an acute-family, if not registered or registered eligible (i.e ARDMS, RDCS, or RVT)
- A.S. Degree
- Working in acute care setting performance such jobs as cardiac echos, TEEs, cardiovascular stress tests, and vascular studies
- Current registered or registry eligible (i.e RDCS and/or RVT)
- ECE to maintain certification
- Current CPR-AHA Certification
Preferred Requirements:
- B.S Degree and/or gradudate of an accredited school of cardiovascular technology
- Familiar with PACs systems including Xcellera, and Cerner
- Registered ARDMS
Special Skills:
- Demonstrates knowledge in both general and cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
- Must have working knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures
- Must also know departmental protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians, and the patient population
- Ability to communicate effectively both oraly and in writing
- Self-motivated and able to achieve resultss through good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team-oriented environment
