A Lead IV Pharm Tech is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of a team of IV Pharmacy Technicians. They ensure the accurate preparation and dispensing of intravenous medications, monitor inventory levels, and maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations and protocols. They may also assist in training new staff members, resolving issues or concerns, and implementing quality improvement initiatives within the IV pharmacy department

M-F: 8am-6pm
Sa-Su: 9am-5pm

Responsibilities
- Participates in orientation, USP 797 training, and competency assessment
- Provides support in training new staff members on IV procedures and protocols
- Monitors workflow and reassigns IV Pharmacy Technicians as needed
- Prepares IV Pharmacy Technician schedules to meet the needs of the pharmacy
- Fills prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, packaging medications for dispensing and for delivery, meeting the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy
- May perform the following:
- Works with automated machines for IV admixture medications
- Manages inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identify expired medications, managing to the pharmacy standard for Days on Hand
- Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels (data entry)
- Mixes/packages IV medications and supplies
- Disinfects IV room, equipment, and hood to meet daily and monthly requirements per USP 797
- Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow) or emergency kits
- Communicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner
- Assists IV supervisor/manager to ensure all job-related tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in an LTC pharmacy setting
- Prior supervisory experience desired
- Basic understanding of drugs, medication terminology, and metric system
- Ability to operate a computer
- Workflow management, scheduling and performance management skills desired
