Overview
The Scanning Clerk is responsible for maintaining high standards of pricing integrity throughout the entire store. The Scanning Clerk ensures all pricing is accurate and understandable to our customers. They share responsibility for ensuring price scanners and printers are operational and scanning correctly with Store Managers/Assistant Store Managers. In addition, they maintain an accurate scanning price file for all items, as well as, assist with proper product rotation and item placement/removal following all state pricing laws, company guidelines, processes, procedures and best practices. The Scanning Clerk will take advice and direction from the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager.

2. Perform weekly Ad Checks ensuring all items in the weekly flyer scan as advertised, are properly displayed, have correct signage and scan correctly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (continued)3. Ensure daily that all price scanners and printers in the store are operational.4. Separate, Sort and Distribute Weekly Shelf Tags to appropriate departments.5. Perform a weekly Aisle Scan ensuring all merchandise is properly tagged and scanning correctly.6. Ensure that store signage standards are maintained.7. Check date codes, ensuring proper rotation per company guidelines. Remove and scan out any out of code product on the shelf.8. Notify the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager of potential shrink problems (damaged or missing merchandise), out-of-stock situations, potential security problems and customer requests/complaints.9. Notify Merchandising Systems Department personnel of any pricing or item issues found utilizing appropriate forms.10. Ensure all store personnel informs Scanning Clerk of pricing problems, tag issues or item data issues. 11. Scan items in need of replacement tags. Create and print out tag batches using the sign system – hanging all replacement tags.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Create signage when needed.2. File and maintain copies of logs, reports and forms at store level for documented timeframes.3. Ensure all shelves and displays are blocked and straightened after rotating a section.4. Clean shelves when needed.5. Attend meetings when needed.6. Other duties as assigned by the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager or the Company.7. Practice the “Golden Rule” and work with all associates as a team.8. Work in a style that is Respectful, Supportive, and Team-Oriented (RSTO).
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. • Must be able to operate computers.• Must have experience working with handhelds and front-end registers.• Excellent oral and written communication skills.• Must be able to identify and correct problems.• Must have a sense of urgency.
