Responsibilities
As a Summer Underwriting Intern with Berkley Re for the summer of 2026, you will be exposed to various aspects of the reinsurance business including account management, marketing, technical service and project management. You will gain hands-on industry experience working alongside Senior Reinsurance Account Executives to assist in a variety of tasks and projects related to underwriting and marketing. Successful candidates will demonstrate an eagerness to learn, a willingness to contribute in a team environment and an ability to adapt flexibly to a variety of tasks. Berkley Re looks for students entering their junior or senior year who are interested in building a career in our dynamic industry.
- Participate in a rotational program to learn reinsurance “basics”
- Develop and present a research project to the underwriting team based on knowledge gained throughout the program
- Assist Underwriters in projects related to underwriting and marketing
Qualifications
- A currently enrolled student at a 4-year college or university
- Eager to learn and able to self-motivate
- Numerically literate in basic math and statistical concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interested in building relationships with colleagues and peers
- Able to maintain several concurrent tasks in an organized fashion
- Adaptable to a variety of administrative and project-oriented duties
- The ability to work in our Stamford office 4 days a week.
