    Frequently asked questions

This advanced position centers on managing critical respiratory care for newborns in NICUs, requiring specialized skills like ventilator management and neonatal resuscitation. Unlike general respiratory therapist roles, it demands autonomous decision-making in high-stakes neonatal environments.

Mission’s healthcare sector values NICU respiratory experts, offering pathways to leadership or specialized clinical roles. With Prime Healthcare Services providing mentorship options, professionals can progress into supervisory or respiratory therapy director positions locally.

Certifications like NRP, PALS, and ACLS are essential, while neonatal or pediatric specialty credentials from NBRC elevate expertise. Additional certifications such as CPFT or ACCS can distinguish candidates in competitive NICU respiratory therapy roles.

Prime Healthcare emphasizes collaboration, positioning this therapist as both clinical expert and mentor. The role involves developing NICU respiratory protocols and supporting junior staff, fostering a team-oriented approach to critical neonatal care.

Prime Healthcare provides comprehensive health coverage, tuition reimbursement, and robust leave options, including FMLA and bereavement leave. These benefits create a supportive environment for NICU respiratory therapists balancing demanding night shifts.

Mission’s demand for experienced NICU respiratory therapists is growing due to expanding neonatal care facilities. However, the pool of highly skilled therapists at level III is limited, making this a favorable job market for qualified professionals.

Mission’s layout generally supports reasonable commutes, but night shift respiratory therapists should consider transit options and traffic patterns. Proximity to Mission Regional Medical Center can significantly ease daily travel stresses.

Salaries for this role typically range between $65,000 and $85,000 annually, reflecting the advanced skills and night shift schedule. Compensation may vary depending on certifications, experience, and specific hospital policies in Mission.

At Prime Healthcare, this role blends clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, offering opportunities to mentor staff and influence NICU protocols—an approach that fosters professional growth beyond typical respiratory therapy duties.

The company encourages continuous learning through tuition reimbursement and access to specialty training programs, assisting therapists in maintaining certifications like NRP and ACLS, essential for sustaining high-quality neonatal respiratory care.
