Responsibilities

The AVP, Policy and Billing Product Management will lead the strategic direction, development, and execution of policy administration and billing solutions across the commercial insurance portfolio. This leader will oversee a team of 10–15 product managers and analysts, ensuring alignment with business goals, regulatory compliance, and customer experience excellence. The role demands deep domain expertise in commercial insurance processes & operations, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in enterprise-scale system transformation.

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the product vision and roadmap for policy administration and billing platforms.
  • Align product strategy with underwriting, claims, finance, and IT to support growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Champion modernization initiatives including digital transformation, automation, and AI integration.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of product managers and analysts.
  • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and career development plans.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and innovative team culture.

Product Ownership

  • Own end-to-end lifecycle of policy and billing products including ideation, prioritization, development, launch, and optimization.
  • Drive backlog grooming, sprint planning, and release management in partnership with Agile delivery teams.
  • Ensure products meet business requirements, user needs, and compliance standards.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business units, technology teams, and external vendors.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to gather requirements, resolve issues, and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Communicate product strategy, progress, and outcomes to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation and influencing skills to align diverse stakeholder interests, secure resources, and drive consensus across competing priorities.

Operational Excellence

  • Monitor and improve product performance using KPIs such as billing accuracy, policy issuance speed, and system uptime.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and third-party integrations related to policy and billing systems.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and audit requirements across all product initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience and/or alternative qualifications will be considered.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial insurance product management (not insurance product, but technology product such as Guidewire), with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven success managing large teams and complex product portfolios.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong Guidewire implementation experience and deployment across PolicyCenter and BillingCenter.
  • Led at least one large-scale, multi-year policy system transformation program, preferably involving legacy system replacement or modernization.
  • Deep understanding of policy administration and billing systems (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; data-driven decision maker.
  • Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to drive alignment and decision-making across senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and product management tools (e.g., Jira, Aha!).
