NYLO NYC has been renamed to Arthouse Hotel New York City. Over the past two years, the hotel introduced artful programming and imaginative events to the Upper West Side, including Silent Cinema nights, weekend Flower Markets, and holiday pop-ups. Arthouse Hotel was conceived as a celebration of creativity and community— a gathering place where guests will feel at home and connected to New York culture. An exciting renovation is currently planned to debut late 2019. Overview
Bartenders are responsible for all aspects of guest relations service behind bar and related bar areas, including general upkeep of bar and providing swift, uniform and consistent service.
Responsibilities
- Serve and assist bar guests in a warm, sincere, accommodating and professional manner
- Serve beverage and menu items uniformly according to established standards, expectations and recipes
- Stock daily inventory taken
- Fill requisition sheet and give to manager
- Prep all fruits, garnishes, and juices and ensure its freshness
- Maintain and upkeep inventory of fruits, juices, water, beer, liquor, garnishes, coffee/tea, silverware, napkins, salt & pepper, and other bar related items
- Maintain cleanliness and design aesthetics of all areas, especially those visible to guests including: bar top, glass selves, bar back, and service bar
- Complete all side work requirements, including pre and post shift, daily, and monthly duties
- Answer specific questions about food prep using culinary terminology and about Standard drinks in an articulate and detailed manner using technical and service aspects
- Swift, efficient, and uniform service of orders per drink ticket
- Provide level of service consistent with established standards in every aspect
- Main par level stocks and assist bartender whenever necessary
- Open and set up bar, including stocking liquor bottles
- Stock all glassware and ashtrays
- Fill all ice wells with ice
- Stock all paper and plastic needs for bar such as napkins, straws, stirrers and micros paper
- Make sure the bar is neat and clean at all times
- Perform other duties as requested per manager or bartender
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in hotel or a related field preferred.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
- Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
