JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

Provide a clean, safe and friendly environment for patients, visitors and all staff in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Uses and discloses patient protected health information: 1) Only as it applies to job functions, 2) in amounts minimally necessary for intended purpose and 3) in a confidential manner.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleans and disinfects patient, ancillary and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures.
- Operates manual, battery-powered and electric equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners and vacuums. Maintains and stores all equipment in a safe, sanitary manner.
- Collects, handles and disposes of designated waste streams and soiled linens in the prescribed manner.
- Completes stat and routine discharge room cleans.
- Adheres to all hospital required Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control practices
- Identifies and reports work orders for maintenance/refurbishing needs.
- Inspects EVS equipment for cleanliness and need for repair.
- Provides support with the training and orientation of new employees.
- Greets and directs visitors, patients and staff. Provide assistance as needed.
- Attends all meetings and training sessions as required.
- Completes all mandatory education requirements.
- Follows established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Initiates and promotes quality improvement, seeking to meet customer requirements and cost efficiency.
- On occasion may perform duties of Linen Tech.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education for Staff Job Levels
- High school or GED preferred
- Basic reading and writing skills required in order to understand and use chemical labels, SDS sheets, OSHA standards, isolation procedures, written instructions and departmental policies.

PREFERRED Qualifications
- One year healthcare/cleaning experience is preferred.
