Frequently asked questions

In NYC's dynamic apparel industry, a Production Coordinator manages multiple tasks simultaneously, from liaising with design teams to tracking manufacturing orders. They ensure all production stages align with deadlines, balancing quality control and logistics, while adapting quickly to fast-paced changes typical of a major lifestyle brand environment.

Exceptional organization, proactive communication, and adept multitasking stand out. Success also hinges on deep understanding of production calendars and vendor coordination, alongside strong problem-solving skills to navigate New York's fast-moving fashion production demands and maintain seamless operations.

Advancement often leads to production management or operations leadership, with opportunities in supply chain or product development. Accumulating expertise in vendor relations and technical production processes, especially within lifestyle brands, paves the way for strategic roles influencing broader business outcomes.

While no strict certifications are mandatory, familiarity with production planning software and quality management systems is valued. Courses in supply chain management or apparel manufacturing technology enhance a candidate’s profile, especially given New York’s status as a global fashion hub with advanced production standards.

At Centric Brands, Production Coordinators act as vital connectors between design, merchandising, and factories. Their role ensures timely product execution and quality adherence, supporting the company’s focus on innovation and high standards, thereby directly impacting the efficiency and profitability of seasonal collections.

Coordinating across diverse product segments and international vendors demands a high level of adaptability and proactive communication. Centric Brands emphasizes creative and analytical thinking, so coordinators must balance rigorous scheduling with innovative problem-solving within a collaborative, fast-paced corporate culture.

The salary typically ranges from $53,000 to $65,000 annually, reflecting the competitive New York market and the role’s responsibilities. This base is complemented by comprehensive benefits, including 401(k) matching and career development opportunities, making it an attractive package in the lifestyle apparel sector.

New York’s status as a fashion capital drives steady demand for coordinators skilled in managing complex supply chains and rapid product cycles. The city's dense vendor networks and competitive environment require professionals who can efficiently handle logistics and quality control under tight deadlines.

Given NYC’s traffic and public transit options, proximity to Manhattan or production hubs can significantly affect daily commute times. Hybrid work models, like those at Centric Brands, offer flexibility, but coordinators often need to balance onsite vendor meetings and remote coordination to optimize productivity.

Production Coordinators focus on detailed scheduling, vendor communication, and tracking production stages, while Production Managers oversee broader operational strategy and team leadership. Logistics Coordinators specialize more in shipment and distribution. Each role complements the others but varies in scope and responsibility.
