Job Summary and Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for technical, clerical, and transportation duties for the department and is involved with the preparation, distribution and delivery of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The technician must demonstrate competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Other duties within scope of practice as assigned by supervising pharmacist. The technician may be required to work at another GSSA facility.


Job Requirements
  • One (1) year of acute care hospital pharmacy practice experience or a six (6) week pharmacy technician externship at the hiring facility.
  • Experience in the preparation of intravenous admixtures and antineoplastic/chemotherapeutic/ hazardous medications.
  • Pharmacy Technician CA.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legal restrictions on the activities of non-licensed personnel in a hospital pharmacy, medical abbreviations, pharmaceutical terminology and calculations and generic/trade names of medications.


Preferred

  • Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician program and Experience working in a USP 797 cleanroom
