Overview
We are seeking a Step-Down Unit RN, sometimes referred to as our Step-Down RN or Step-Down Cardiac Nurse. A Step-Down RN is a registered nurse who specializes in providing care for patients who are recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, or events like heart attacks. The Step-Down RN offer an intermediate level of care between the ICU and the general medical-surgical floor. Step-Down Nurses are responsible for close monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and care coordination.

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00pm to 7:00am

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
- Monitor patients' cardiac status, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect any changes or abnormalities, which is crucial for patients recovering from cardiac procedures, heart attacks, or other cardiac conditions
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous drugs, cardiac medications, and pain management medications
- Perform assessments of patients' cardiac status, including physical assessments, review medical histories, and evaluate symptoms
- Provide education to patients and their families about cardiac conditions, treatment plans, medications, lifestyle modifications, and self-care practices
- React promptly to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias, cardiac arrests, or respiratory distress, necessitating immediate implementation of emergency procedures, administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and aiding in defibrillation and other crucial life-saving measures
Qualifications

- Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.
- BCLS upon hire and maintain current.
Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- ACLS within 30 days of hire and maintained current.
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
- Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
