Frequently asked questions

In Washington, a valid state licensure as a physical therapist assistant is essential. Additionally, certifications in CPR and continuing education credits tailored to geriatrics or long-term care settings can enhance employability, especially for roles like those at HealthPRO Heritage in Des Moines.

Des Moines and the greater Seattle area have a robust demand for PTAs due to an aging population and healthcare expansion. However, competition can be moderate as employers seek licensed professionals with solid clinical and communication skills, making continuous professional growth a key advantage.

Licensed PTAs in long-term care focus on delivering therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, applying modalities, monitoring patient progress, and educating patients and families. Close collaboration with physical therapists ensures coordinated, effective rehabilitation tailored to each patient's needs.

Strong diagnostic abilities, proficiency with therapy equipment, and excellent interpersonal skills set top PTAs apart. Pursuing advanced certifications or transitioning to physical therapy degrees can open leadership or specialized clinical roles, especially within mission-driven companies like HealthPRO Heritage.

HealthPRO Heritage fosters growth by offering tailored learning opportunities and a collaborative culture where feedback is valued. Licensed PTAs can expect ongoing training, diverse clinical experiences, and the chance to contribute meaningfully within their long-term care and rehabilitation teams.

Beyond competitive pay, HealthPRO Heritage promotes a purpose-driven environment emphasizing compassionate care and teamwork. Their flexible scheduling, full benefits at 30 hours, and diverse clinical settings provide Licensed PTAs with both work-life balance and career fulfillment.

Licensed PTAs in Des Moines at HealthPRO Heritage can expect compensation between $39 and $41 per hour, reflecting the region's healthcare market standards and the specialized skills required for quality patient care in long-term care environments.

In nursing facilities, PTAs often focus on mobility, pain management, and functional independence for older adults, while pediatric settings require adapting treatments to developmental needs and engaging families closely. Both demand precise documentation and teamwork but vary greatly in patient interaction styles.

Aspiring PTAs must complete an accredited associate degree program and pass the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) for PTAs. Afterward, application for Washington state licensure involves submitting proof of education, exam passage, and background checks, ensuring compliance with local regulatory standards.
