Resident Care Aide (RCA) Qualifications:
- Eighteen (18) years of age required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of Resident Care Assistant (RCA) training on Relias. Twenty-two modules and scoring 80% or better on post tests within 21 days from start date.
- Certificate of Completion will be maintained and placed in the staff members Human Resource file.
- Completion of 5 days (40hrs) of orientation with the RCA Competency being completed before the staff member works on their own.
- Staff members should be completing their orientation (40 hrs) and working simultaneously on the RCA Modules on Relias.
- Staff members may work on their own after completing their (40 hrs) of orientation and the RCA Competency is completed upon completion of orientation. They can continue working on the Relias modules and post tests while working and must complete them within 21 days from their start date.
Resident Care Aide (RCA) Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to verbally communicate well with residents, families and staff members.
- Ability to read and understand task assignments, ability to report verbally and provide written documentation as required.
- Display of genuine concern for the elderly; a dependable, patient and compassionate attitude towards residents. Respectful demeanor of residents rights and wishes.
- Ability to cooperate and maintain respectful treatment with others.
- Sense of responsibility, maturity, diplomacy and ability to work well with residents, families and other staff members.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks to a high degree of excellence and cleanliness.
- This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
