Frequently asked questions
Choosing part-time hours at a facility like Novacare Dover allows flexibility, especially with shifts ranging from 15-20 hours weekly. This schedule supports therapists seeking to balance patient care with personal time, helping manage responsibilities without the intensity of a full-time commitment in orthopedic outpatient therapy.
While a Delaware PT license and CPR certification are mandatory, additional credentials in vestibular rehab or concussion management can boost marketability. Specialized training aligns with local outpatient demands, helping therapists provide broader services to diverse patients, especially in orthopedics and fall prevention programs.
Therapists encounter a wide age range from teens through geriatrics, dealing with orthopedic injuries, sports-related conditions, vestibular disorders, and concussion rehabilitation. This diversity requires adaptable skills to tailor treatments addressing both acute injuries and chronic impairments in an outpatient environment.
PRN PTAs often face fluctuating patient volumes and varying case complexities, demanding quick adaptability. In Dover's outpatient ortho clinics, balancing coverage needs with consistent clinical quality and communication is crucial, especially given the specialized caseloads like concussion and vestibular therapy.
Select Medical fosters professional development through access to continuing education, including both online and in-person CEU courses. Their nationwide network of 1900 centers also offers internal mobility, empowering therapists to explore varied clinical settings and specialties while maintaining flexible schedules.
Offering $55 to $60 per hour based on experience, Select Medical provides competitive compensation reflecting Delaware’s outpatient therapy market. This range is attractive for part-time and PRN roles, balancing financial incentives with flexible hours and access to professional growth opportunities.
Select Medical emphasizes a collaborative environment valuing patient-centered care and open communication among clinicians, physicians, and families. This culture supports innovation and ongoing learning, which may contrast with smaller practices, fostering a more structured and resource-rich workplace.
Dover’s compact urban layout generally offers manageable commutes, but therapists should consider peak traffic times near Novacare. Availability of parking and proximity to residential areas might influence daily travel convenience, impacting part-time or PRN schedules that often require flexible timing.
Dover’s growing healthcare sector increases demand for outpatient ortho therapists, but competition remains moderate due to a limited local PT workforce. Employers often favor candidates with specialized skills in concussion or vestibular therapy, making advanced certifications a distinct advantage locally.
Beyond hourly pay, Select Medical provides benefits like company-matched 401(k) plans after reaching 1,000 hours in a year and access to accredited continuing education. These perks enhance financial security and professional growth, making part-time positions more attractive compared to typical PRN roles.
